Wrestlers such as Kurt Angle, Samoa Joe, AJ Styles, and Sting originally held the championship. Over the years, several other wrestlers including Bobby Roode, Austin Aries, Bobby Lashley, and Drew Galloway have also held the TNA Impact Championship.
Wrestlers have defended the championship in a variety of match types, such as singles matches, multi-person matches, as well as specialty matches like steel cage and ladder matches.
TheTNA Impact Championship became vacant in 2021, as then-champion Rich Swann suffered an injury. It was then unified with the TNA World Heavyweight Championship to create the Impact Unified World Championship.
